The Center investigates a wide range of materials including new semiconductors for solid state lighting and energy efficient materials, novel nanostructures for microelectronics and terahertz devices, advanced polymeric materials and self assembling systems.  Significant effort is devoted to successful K-12, Diversity and International Outreach programs.  Active collaborations exist with a variety of small to large companies.  These activities, together with a major focus on world-class characterization facilities, have a direct benefit to the UCSB and National materials research community.
